Sydney - A woman whose car plunged into a lake in south-east Australia, killing three of her four children, is to be questioned over the incident, police said on Thursday.
The oldest child, a 5-year-old girl, is in critical condition in hospital after the incident, which occurred in Melbourne's western suburb of Wyndham Vale on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old mother was discharged from hospital overnight and was due to talk to investigators, police said.
The family was South Sudanese and had migrated to Australia in 2008, broadcaster ABC reported.
Emergency crews and passers-by pulled the five from the submerged car. One child was pronounced dead at the scene, one died while en route to hospital and a third in hospital, police said.
The victims were a 1-year-old boy and 4-year-old twins.
