About 30 people attended the craft workshop at King Edward’s Hall in North Ascot on Saturday to make Christmas cards, gifts and decorations in time for the festive season.

The community event, organised by All Saints’ Church, Ascot, in the run-up to its 150th birthday celebrations next year, raised more than £200.

The money will go towards strengthening ties with churches in Gambela, Ethiopia, with several members of the congregation visiting the country next month to help support several projects.

Sheila Shringley, organiser of the event, said: “It was lovely to see everyone chatting and making Christmas crafts.

“We just provided the materials and some ideas and it just took off.”
