Simiyu — PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has commended efforts by residents in Simiyu region to establish their own community bank, which is set to facilitate smooth accessibility of financial services.
Speaking during the official laying of the bank's foundation on Friday in Bariadi, president Kikwete said that having the bank would help stimulate economic development in the region.
He noted that finance is a promotion of economic development for national welfare as money is needed to improve roads, get better health care and play key role in good governance.
The president hailed the initiatives by investors and the people in the area saying that bringing this kind of service would stimulate investments in the region.
The Simiyu Community bank's chairperson Eng. Christopher Sayi said that the idea to establish this bank was to make sure that people in Simiyu are provided with modern banking services.
