Two people were killed Wednesday during fighting between Egyptian police and student backers of overthrown President Mohamed Morsi.
Both sides accuse the other of inciting the violence in the city of Alexandria.
Clashes also were reported Wednesday in Cairo and Mr. Morsi's hometown of Zagazig.
Egypt's interim government last week declared Mr. Morsi's pro-Islamist Muslim Brotherhood party a terrorist group.
The former president and a number of Brotherhood leaders are facing trial on numerous charges, including inciting violence that led to the deaths of protesters.
Egypt's military ousted Mr. Morsi in July. A referendum on a new constitution comes later this month. Elections for a new parliament and president are expected later this year.
