Operation Christmas Child
National Shoe Box Collection Week is November 15-21. Operation Christmas Child gives you the opportunity to make this Christmas brighter for a needy child in the world just by packing a shoebox. Shoeboxes are now available for pick-up at most local churches or by calling Janis at 673-3572. Last year, Canadians filled nearly 640,569 shoe boxes; Newfoundland and Labrador contributed 28,115 boxes. Our area (which includes Springdale, South Brook, Kings Point, Harrys Harbour, Little Bay, St. Patricks, Beachside, Little Bay Islands) filled 841 boxes. Congratulations! This year, because the need remains so great, we are urging even more to participate in Operation Christmas Child and fill shoe boxes. The gift-filled shoe boxes that are collected in Canada in 2010 will be distributed in the following countries: Central America and the Caribbean: (Costa Rica / El Salvador / Haiti / Nicaragua) South America: (Argentina / Bolivia / Uruguay) West Africa: (Ecuatorial Guinea / Guinea Bissau / Senegal). To find out how gift-filled shoe boxes are brightening children's lives go to http://ift.tt/1aqxqeh.
You can return your box earlier than the collection week if you have it filled. Please return your shoebox(s) to your local church or to our Local Area Collection Centre - Springdale Pentecostal Church. (Hours of drop-off - Mon-Friday 8 - 3:45).
