LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) - Police say they have found human skulls, decomposing bodies and dying men and women at an abandoned building and surrounding forest in Nigeria's southwestern city of Ibadan.
Deputy Superintendent Olabisi Ilobanafor says a murder investigation has been opened with some area residents claiming the building was a home for mentally ill people and others that it was used for rituals.
She says one skeletal man died after police arrived at the property on Saturday. Body parts still were being discovered in the surrounding bush on Monday. The police spokeswoman for Oyo state says police were alerted by taxi drivers who believed a colleague had been kidnapped.
She says six victims who "look like walking skeletons" have been hospitalized and that six other men have been arrested.
