Roads built with an outlay of over 6.5 billion Birr in the just-concluded Ethiopian fiscal year have become operational, according to Addis Ababa Roads Authority.
The authority said that it constructed 523km new asphalt, gravel and cobblestone roads in the city during the fiscal year. Moreover, 29km asphalt and 30km gravel roads were repaired.
While presenting the performance report of the Authority, the General Manager, Engineer Fikadu Haile, pointed out the authority has registered better performance in good governance works, particularly in addressing grievances of the public during constructions.
The authority has created public awareness to protect roads from damages through various forums and provided alternative routes at sites where wide roads are under construction, he added.
