* South Africa will help Sri Lanka with constitutional reforms- envoy

July 07, Colombo: South Africa will help Sri Lanka in its reconciliation process and bring constitutional reforms to stabilize the country, South Africa's Special Envoy to Sri Lanka, and Deputy President of the African National Congress (ANC), Cyril Ramaphosa has said.
Ramaphosa, who has been appointed as South African President Jacob Zuma's Special Envoy to help consolidate peace in Sri Lanka, will arrive in Sri Lanka today on a mission to forge a lasting solution to the ethnic issue.
In a statement on Sunday, Ramaphosa has said he will hold talks with the government, the opposition and other civil society groups, SAPA reported.
"What we are going to do there, we are going to listen to the Sri Lankans," he said.
"We will also try to help the Sri Lankans with the Truth and Reconciliation process, their own constitutional reform and make sure Sri Lanka does indeed become a stable country where they will enjoy human rights."
Ramaphosa's visit has already drawn the resistance from the coalition parties of the Sri Lankan government, National Freedom front (NFF) led by Minister Wimal Weerawansa and the Jathika Hela Urumaya led by Minister Champika Ranawaka.
The two parties say they oppose the third party intervention in Sri Lanka's internal affairs.
Ramaphosa would be accompanied by Deputy International Relations Minister Nomaindia Mfeketo in his visit.
Sri Lanka's External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L, Peiris will host the South African delegation on July 8 and 9.
