The Nigeria Police Forces (NPF) spokesman, Emmanuel Chukwu, said several policemen are still missing in last Wednesday’s attacks by Boko Haram gunmen on the Anti-riot Police Training School, Limankara, Borno State.
He identified some of the policemen in Yola and Mubi, Adamawa State, on Friday.
Speaking Saturday on the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation, monitored in Maiduguri, the NPF spokesman said he could not ascertain the exact number of policemen affected or missing in the attack on the training camp, but that the Force was able to identify some police officers and men that fled to the nearest towns in Adamawa State.
“As I speak to you on this incident that happened at our training facility in Borno State, we are still searching for the missing policemen, because out of the students that were at the school premises when the insurgents struck, we were able to identify our members in Yola and Mubi, about 95 kilometres from the camp at Limankara,” Chukwu said.
On casualties, he said that he could not release the exact number of figures, because the police was still investigating the “nature and extent” of the attack.
Boko Haram insurgents launched a similar attack on the facility April 9, 2014.
