By Mathews NdanyiTHREE governors have agreed on the construction of a new and shorter road to link Eldoret and Kakamega towns.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said the project will open up trade and other activities.
The 80-kilometre road from Eldoret will pass through Nandi county to Kakamega. It takes two hours to travel from Eldoret to Kakamega using the current 160-kilometre road through Webuye.
"The new road will reduce the distance and time by more than half," Oparanya said at the Eldoret Sports Club on Thursday after the burial of three aides of Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago who were killed in a road accident last week.
The new road will link up from the Mosoriot-Kabiyet, road which is being tarmacked by the national government.
