The Black Stars received a royal blessing from the Chief of Tamale ahead of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea on Wednesday.
Dakpema Naa Alhassan Dawuni assured the Black Stars players of the full support of his township – including that of the ancestors – as they finalize their preparations for the game.
The Black Stars team had arrived at the Tamale Chief’s Palace with a full entourage of supporters and sympathizers on Tuesday afternoon before holding their final training session.
All the players were presented and nicely decorated in the finest smoke as a gift from the overlord after commissioning the team to go secure an all-important victory against Guinea.
The Tamale Chief told the players: “You are here on a blessed land so be rest assured the gods will be with you all the way in the game tomorrow.
“We are very happy to have you here with us. I urge you to put in the effort required t ensure we emerge victorious against Guinea.
“The whole Tamale will be supporting you and I am sure and very much convinced we will be victorious tomorrow.”
The Black Stars will be playing their first ever competitive game in Tamale since the construction of the stadium in 2008 when they line up against Guinea on Wednesday.
Ghana will maintain its top spot if they secure the likely win to ease their path towards qualification to next year’s AFCON in Morocco.
