MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least five people were killed and 10 others were wounded in Mogadishu when a car loaded with explosives blew up outside a popular cafe Wednesday evening, witnesses said.
The attack, the second of its kind in two days in the Somali capital, took place around 7 p.m. in a parking area at the cafe, where mostly students gather.
Abdirahman Omar, a law student, said the police sealed off the area right after the explosives went off.
The Somali government did not comment on the attack, for which al-Shabab, the Islamist militant group, claimed responsibility.
