According to him, "The NCC has engaged some consultants and we have adopted open access model as our model for the implementation of broadband penetration in Nigeria.
"The challenge has always been that of infrastructure. NCC is already addressing this, in the sense that seven infrastructure companies will be licensed to provide infrastructure".
"Two of these companies will be licensed in the next two weeks to provide infrastructure requirement that will drive the broadband services.
"We believe that this is just the beginning of the revolution that is going to happen in the next couple of years in the area of broadband deployment.
"The revolution we have witnessed in voice communication will also be witnessed in data communication. The foundation will be laid with the licensing of seven infrastructure companies.
"It will usher in an era of business communication in terms of data. The era of doing business at a speed of light. We know that it is going to happen very shortly." Juwah noted with satisfaction the revolution recorded in the telecoms industry since its inception in 2001.
