Addis Ababa, 14 October 2014 (WIC) - Documents Authentication and Registration Office said it is planning to open three new branches this fiscal year. In 2006 budget year, the office opened one new branch in Addis Ababa. Currently, the office is operating in 11 branch offices including the Dire Dawa office.
The Office provided services to 1,099,039 clients last fiscal year which is 109 per cent and handled 526,633 cases above the target which was 1,005,200 clients. In the last fiscal year, the Office has also planned to collect over 160 million Birr but managed to collect over 171 million Birr which is seven per cent above the projection.
Office General Manager Merisa Gebere-Yohannes in an exclusive interview with The Ethiopian Herald said that the application of different new guidelines and manuals in the budget year, have contributed enormously to the success. “The effort we have made to renew the old system of doing business using modern technologies helped the Office upgrade itself. In addition, employees are also benefiting from the conducive work environment created in the process.”
He also said that the Office will maintain its quality service. The Office is planning to raise its income to 200 million Birr from stamp sales, duty and service charges in the current fiscal year.
It is to be recalled that the Documents Authentication and Registration Office (DARO) recently received a certificate qualifying for an International Standards Organisation (ISO) certification. (EH)
