The families and friends of the Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram staged a rally on Tuesday calling on the government to do more to free them.
Tuesday marks 6 months since more than 200 girls were abducted in April. But the girls are still being held despite an international campaign for their release.
In the capital city of Abuja, some 60 people wearing red T-shirts bearing the message "Bring Back Our Girls" gathered near President Goodluck Jonathan's home. More than 150 armed police guarded the residence.
The father of one of the kidnapped girls said he wants the president to do what he should to immediately bring the girls home alive.
President Jonathan has stressed that he and his government are doing all they can to secure the girls' release. But nothing they have done so far seems to have proved effective.
