Cairo: Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs confirmed that Oman will continue to provide financial and political assistance for the people of the Gaza Strip.
He said in a speech before the international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza, currently held in Cairo, that the Sultanate will continue to build schools, health centres and buildings whenever given the opportunity to do so, and if there was not any disruptions or difficulties in doing that.
He said that we in the Sultanate of Oman continue to support our brothers in Gaza and we have existing projects and projects under implementation, especially in the areas of schools and health centres and some of them have been accomplished while others have not been accomplished as a result of the lack of construction materials to Palestinians contractors, but we hope that after these procedures and understandings taken with Israel would enable the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to import the building materials in an easy way and without any complications or delay.
He said that we feel that the role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt to revive the Egyptian capabilities in the care of the issues that concern peace and security is a very important matter, praising Egypt's role in the care of the Palestinian issue, both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and in the management of the recent crisis in a way that led to a cease-fire and led to the organization of this conference to consider the possibility of re-building what was destroyed by Israeli war.
He said that we believe that the climate has become suitable so we should all make a concerted efforts to help our brothers in Palestine and particularly in Gaza.
Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs stressed that the Palestinian people are creative and are exposed to aggression each time can bypass this destruction and this aggression, adding that the Sultanate will stand by the people of Gaza and with our Palestinian brothers and will stand by the new coalition government in its quest to take Gaza out of this situation, which came as a result of the Israeli aggression.
He pointed out in the conclusion of his speech that this conference stressed the importance of the peace process and that the peace process will come, despite postponement and delay, but Israel cannot live only in the shadow of peace, and the state of Palestine cannot get strong and be an effective state, except in peace, pointing out that this issue comes at a critical juncture in this region, but we believe that this is the turning point for peace also.
