Ashantigold striker Osman Bashiru believes the Miners will beat Asante Kotoko mid-week in the Ghana Premier League in Obuasi.
Bashiru, who until the start of the season was a Kotoko player joined The Miners after falling down the pecking order, and has promised to help inflict more troubles into the Kotoko team following their 1-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak in Kumasi last weekend.
“Kotoko are my ex-club and I won the league title with them last season but I strongly believe we [Ashgold] will not spare them in this match on Wednesday because we’re leaving no stone unturned,” Bashiru told Goal Ghana.
“We will definitely rub more salts into their wounds because we are determined to win the trophy this season after coming close several times. The supporters will never forgive us if we drop even a point in this game knowing very well we’ve beaten them three times in friendly matches ahead of the season.
“We have already lost one game against Medeama in Tarkwa but our supporters’ reaction towards that defeat means we should win this game to appease them,” he added.
Ashantigold lead the log with 15 points but Kotoko lie 7th with eight points and a defeat can drag the champions into the relegation zone.
