Authors NoViolet Bulawayo, Cristina Henrquez and Bich Minh Nguyen will gather onstage at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Campbell Heritage Theatre to kick off the 13th annual Silicon Valley Reads project, which this year focuses on the theme of "Homeland & Home: The Immigrant Experience."
Mercury News columnist Sal Pizarro will moderate the interviews and discussion with the panelists, whose lives and works reflect the theme. Bulawayo, born in Zimbabwe, is the author of "We Need New Names"; Henrquez, whose father is a Panamanian immigrant, is the author of "The Book of Unknown Americans," and Saigon-born Nguyen is the author of "Stealing Buddha's Dinner."
The panel kicks off a two-month-long series of events in a dozen venues across Santa Clara County, including films, book group sessions, art exhibits, poetry readings and activities for children and families. It concludes at 1 p.m. March 28 with a final gathering of the three authors at the Cupertino Community Hall.
