The Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Mr Zhao Yali, has advised Ugandans to work twice as hard if they want to be on equal terms with the developed world.
The envoy said Africa must not do “business as usual” because it cannot afford that luxury in a fast-paced world.
“About 30 and 35 years ago, we (the Chinese) realised that we were behind the rest of the world. So what we did was to run while others were walking. This is what you (Uganda) should do and what Africa needs to do,” Mr Yali said at the launch of Bemuga Heavy Equipment in Kampala at the weekend.
The chairman of the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), Mr Patrick Bitature, said unlike many envoys, Mr Yali is passionate about Africa and he wishes well particularly for Uganda.
