2015-03-22Multi-skilled Ghanaian radio broadcaster Kwabena Anokye Adisi has emerged the winner in the Best Male Radio Presenter category at this year’s GN Bank Awards ceremony.
The inexhaustible CEO of the EIB Network, owners of Starr 103.5 FM, is also the founder and President of Empire Entertainment in Ghana.
The GN Bank Awards, organised by Spyder Lee Entertainment and supported by GN Bank, is an annual awards scheme instituted to celebrate and give recognition to Ghanaian personalities whose daily endeavors have contributed tremendously to the growth of the nation’s entertainment industry.
The awards scheme runs strictly by a ‘people’s choice’ format where the public are tasked to vote for their favorite personalities.
The personality with the most votes is announced the winner and given his plaque and a price money of GHC5000. Categories cover comedy, music, movies, television, radio, sports and journalism.
Bola Ray was nominated in the same category as Abeiku Santana (Ekwanso Dwoodwo - Okay FM), Agyemang Prempeh (Gh Entertainment - Rainbow Radio), Blakk Rasta (Taxi Driver - Hitz FM), Dan Kwaku Yeboah (Peace Power Sports - Peace FM), DJ Saki (Weekend Groove - Ahomka FM), Frankie Taylor (African Express - Fox FM), Patrick Osei Agyeman {Songo}(Fire For Fire - Asempa FM), Kwasi Aboagye (Entertainment Review - Peace FM), Samuel Baah (AM Pluzz - Pluzz FM0).
The Starr Drive host on Starr 103.5FM according to the organisers was nominated for his “excellent” skills on radio and his experience on the Ghanaian media scene.
Accepting the award, Bola Ray said, “I dedicate this to the almighty God, Jehovah God. To my lovely wife, Dorcas Anokye Adisi. We’ve been through a lot to get here. And also to the entire EIB team especially those at Starr 103.5FM. Mr. and Mrs. Nduom and of course! DJ Black my man! Thank you all!
The media entrepreneur nurtured his skills from the University of Ghana campus radio station- Radio Universe, progressed to join Top FM in Accra and until recently was the most listened to individual on Joy 99.7FM in Accra. Bola Ray now co-owns what will soon become famous as the Africa’s biggest media house with former Governor of the Bank of Ghana Kwabena Duffour.
The EIB Network owns seven radio stations across the nation including, Starr 103.5FM, Live 91.9, Kasapa 102.1 and Ultimate 106.9 in Kumasi.
The Network also has a Newspaper outlet and a TV station in the offing.
