A baby eastern bongo has been born at Dublin Zoo, weighing 20 kilograms.
It brings the bongo herd at the zoo to four, as the species is critically endangered, with fewer than 100 left in the wild in a remote part of Kenya.
The calf was born to first-time mother Nanyuki and father Hodari late last week and is healthy and feeding well.
Dublin ZooĆ¢™s new bongo calf
Bongos are characterised by a striking reddish brown coat, black and white markings, white-yellow stripes and long, spiralled horns.
Young calves maybe quite shy and their natural instinct apparently to take cover as a way to protect themselves.
In a statement the zoo has said it does not know the sex of the calf yet.
