ABUJA, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The latest death toll from cholera outbreaks in Nigeria has risen to 74, Xinhua news agency reported.
Nigerian Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said Monday some 373 Nigerians have been affected with cases reported in plateau, Sokoto, Zamfara and Lagos States in the last few weeks.
The minister said the government is working with the states affected by cholera and advised Nigerians to avoid open defecation (excretion) and have access to clean water.
The north of Nigeria suffers epidemics of diseases such as cholera, measles and meningitis almost every year.
