Despite court ordering Kyambogo University Vice- Chancellor Prof. Isaiah Omolo Ndiege to resume duty, he has been barred from accessing his office.
The High Court sitting in Nakawa made a ruling asserting that Ndiege resumes his duties at Kyambogo.
Justice Wilson Masalu Musene quashed the earlier decision reached by Kyambogo University Council recommending the dismissal of Ndiege.
The council on September 17, 2012 sent Ndiege on forced leave, and subsequently recommended his dismissal over alleged mismanagement of the university and failure to heed council decisions.
On Tuesday, after 409 days out of office, attempts by Ndiege to go back to his office at about 10:45am were futile as it remained locked.
Accompanied by his lawyer Sunday Akile Akile, Olok & Co. Advocates, Ndiege was carried on the back by excited students up to the administration block, where he established that most of the workers had left.
On Monday, both teaching and non-teaching staff of the university unanimously resolved to lay down their tools if Ndiege resumed duty.
The guild president, John Mugabi, said students will not take sides in the matter.
End of semester examinations are set to take place on November 25 while graduation is slated to take place between December 19 and 20.
