A US drone strike has apparently killed 2 senior members of an Islamist militant group in Somalia that is believed to have links with Al-Qaeda.
Somalia's interior ministry said on Tuesday that the Al-Shabab members were killed while traveling in a car.
It is thought the men were bomb experts.
Several US media organizations quoted a military source as saying the attack was carried out by an unmanned aircraft.
Al-Shabab, based in southern Somalia, is believed to have links with Al-Qaeda. The group has carried out bomb attacks and assaults in neighboring countries.
It has claimed responsibility for the shopping mall attack in the Kenyan capital Nairobi last month that killed at least 67 people.
Islamist militants linked to Al-Qaeda are said to be expanding their operations in Africa by taking advantage of the confusion caused by the civil war in Libya and the de facto coup in Egypt.
The United States has been stepping up its anti-terrorism operations, attacking militants in Somalia and Libya in early October.
