Harare shrug greets safety fears of envoy to AustraliaMonday, December 30, 2013
Zimbabwe's government dismissed concerns of Harare's ambassador to Australia who has asked Canberra for asylum fearing for her safety at home.
Ambassador Jacqueline Zwambila, pictured, aligned to opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, made the request as her posting ends soon. She told Australian media that a July vote had been "stolen" by President Robert Mugabe's government.
Zimbabwe Home Affairs Minister Kembo Mohadi said: "If she is threatened by anyone, she should tell us as we are responsible for security here."
