PRETORIA, South Africa -- The family of former South African President Nelson Mandela is providing the media with conflicting reports about his health.
Swati Dlamini, Mandela's granddaughter, told eNews Channel Africa Tuesday night the 95-year-old Mandela is doing well.
"He's OK. I actually saw him today so he's doing well, and we, you know as a family, we thank the country and we thank the international community for their continued prayers and their support," he said.
But grandson Ndaba Mandela said the former president's condition is somber, and Mandela's eldest daughter, Makaziwe, recently made a reference to her father being on his deathbed.
"Tata is still with us," she said.
Earlier this year, Mandela was diagnosed with a recurring long infection and was hospitalized for nearly three months.
Last month, the government said his condition was critical but stable, eNCA reported.
