The Austrian Foreign Ministry has lifted the warning issued against travel to resorts on the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba in Egypt with an all clear in effect from today. Arrival and departure via the international airports in Egypt is entirely without problems, they are both fully operational and secured.
A travel warning remains in force, however, for Cairo and other large cities in Egypt, and in particular the Nile Delta region, Northern Sinai and the Sahara desert areas. Future developments remain uncertain in Egypt and the security situation is tense. Travel in the entire country – for example to Luxor – involves a high safety risk. For this reason it is recommended in principle that travellers follow the instructions given by hotels and tour organisers and keep a careful watch on the latest situation reports and warnings issued by the Austrian Foreign Ministry
