Cairo — Egypt's state television said on Wednesday that the government has decided to delay the opening of schools and universities to March 8.
This step is taken to give time for security measures to be put into effect and for the restoration of university facilities damaged during last semester's riots, a source at the cabinet said.
Violence that flared at Cairo, Azhar and Alexandria universities during the past academic term has left several students dead and others injured.
