Swiss authorities say they have arrested the hijacker of an Ethiopian Airlines plane that was forced to land Monday (at 05:00 UTC) in Geneva.
Swiss aviation officials say the situation is "under control" after the scheduled flight (ET 702) from Addis Ababa to Rome was diverted.
Ethiopian Airlines says the aircraft "was forced to proceed to Geneva" where it landed safely. The airline says all passengers and crew are safe.
Passengers have since been seen filing out of the aircraft.
An Ethiopian government spokesman tells Reuters he believes the hijacker boarded the plane on a scheduled stop in Khartoum, Sudan's capital.
