Addis Ababa, 25 October 2014 (WIC) - Some 504.4 km cobblestone road will be constructed in Addis Ababa at a cost of 1.5 billion this Ethiopian budget year, according to the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA).
Authority Communication Expert, Wasihun Gebre, told WIC today that some 450 km of the total road will be built in various parts of the capital, while the remaining 54.4 km will be built at 23 various sites of condominium house.
According to Wasihun, the construction of the road will create job opportunities for more than 60,000 compatriots.
More than 1.8 billion hand cut stones will be utilized in the construction of the cobblestone road due to be launched this month, he said.
In addition to facilitating movement of pedestrians, the construction of the cobblestone road will add color to the city, he added.
In a related development, some 100 km road will be renovated this fiscal year, he said.
