By Reuben GithinjiResidents in Eastern and Central do not donate blood because of myths associated with the exercise.
Sammy Kihara, head of the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre for the nine counties, which is based in Embu town, said the region does not meet its target of 50,000 units of blood per year.
He said residents believe that the blood is sold or it is painful.
Kihara was speaking at the centre on Saturday.
