Information been gathered by Yen Daakye programme which looks into education, children and youth developmental issues every Saturday, morning between the hours of 09 am and 10 am on Jem 105.7 fm indicates that this year’s Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) general election will be highly contested and it will also be hard-hitting for all the contestants.
The election which has been scheduled for 9th January, 2014 elsewhere in Accra has the following positions to be contested; the National Presidents, the National Vice President, and the National Treasure.
Yen Daakye programme team can confirm that the contest for the national president which is going to be contested by four people with only one lady from Greater Accra Region and rest men will be very tough for all.
Our source hinted that because of the contest for the presidency there is a hot misunderstanding between the current Acting National Chairman, Mr. Samuel Doe Alobuia and the current Acting Vice President Mr. Shaibu I Wilberforce Adams in the sense that they are all eyeing the president seat.
It is hoped that if this misunderstanding between these two men who used to befriends fails to end then it will pave way for Mr. Paul Boakye, Ashanti Regional Chairman of GNAT to win the national president seat hands-down next week.
The treasure position contest is between the current treasure and one lady and the vice president position is going to be between one man from the Volta region and other two ladies from the central region.
575 delegates from all the GNAT districts in the country are expected to attend the conference and each has the voting right.
A winner for each position should get fifty plus one valid vote cast. Other observers are predicting run-off for the presidential election.
The election will be supervised by the Ghana Electoral Commission.
